Example projects
No two projects are alike. Our strength is
having interdisciplinary skills rooted in business management and the
science and art of natural resources management. We apply the
appropriate management, communications and analytical techniques to
suit each assignment.
Many of our projects include working in
interdisciplinary teams. We use interpersonal communication skills to
foster a collaborative, inclusive working environment.
Here is a cross-section of projects.
Planning team facilitation and trade-off analysis
BC Hydro-Water Use Planning
Quintry
Management Consulting teamed with BC Hydro power specialists, fish
and wildlife biologists, community relations managers, and computer
modellers to undertake Water
Use Planning on two of BC Hydro's hydroelectric facilities in
British Columbia, Canada.
Water Use Planning was a new collaborative approach to
decision making in natural resource planning. Quintry guided
the committees through a structured decision making process through a
two-year planning period.
Quintry helped committees members develop
mutual understanding of resource values and to make difficult
decisions around trade-offs. Quintry also developed
interactive visual computer tools to help committee members interpret
large amounts of technical data.
The results of recommended changes to BC Hydro
operations will be benefits to increased power generation, recreation
use, First Nation heritage protection, and fish while maintaining
current levels of flood and erosion control.

Issues analysis and planning team facilitation
BC Provincial Government
Quintry Management worked with government and
industry planning teams to develop strategic investment plans
for sustainable forest and environmental management programs. Quintry
provided meeting facilitation,
issues analysis, and planning coordination services.
Quintry had to overcome an interesting
challenge: participants were scattered throughout coastal British
Columbia. So Quintry utilized Internet tools that allowed
distant participants to collaborate, share ideas, and develop
consensus on the investment strategies.

Greenhouse gas carbon credits
and green power applications
Independent Power
Producer-British Columbia
An independent hydroelectric producer in
British Columbia was exploring value added opportunities from its green energy
facilities. Quintry assessed the market opportunities for trading
carbon credits and renewable energy certificates. With Quintry's
analysis in hand, the Independent Producer was able to avoid costly
marketing efforts in an immature market. Meanwhile it has a strategy
to act when the markets eventually develop.
When the Independent Power Producer applied to BC
Hydro to build and operate green environmentally friendly
small-hydro facilities, Quintry contributed a technical
assessment of potential environmental impacts on the terrestrial
ecosystem in the project area.
